Between 2013 and 2016, Oxfam PNG and its local partners collected data on the gender-based violence and sorcery accusation-related violence cases from across five provinces using a common data set. The coordinated collection of the cases informs each of the organisation’s work plan and provides substantial quantitative data to better understand the type of gender-based violence and sorcery accusation-related violence inflicted, who is impacted (women, men, girls and boys) and who the perpetrators of these acts are.
Local partners which have collected information include: Family for Change, Kafe Urban Settlers Women’s Association, Kup Women for Peace, Lifeline, Madang Provincial Council of Women, Nana Kundi Crisis Centre and St Anna’s Crisis Centre.
